Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh , known locally as the Noyes Street Shul, is Portland, Maine's oldest synagogue. We were founded in 1904 on Newbury Street in Portland's Old Port and moved to our current location on Noyes Street in 1954.
We are an open, warm, and caring community. We value Hebrew learning and spiritual growth as lifelong pursuits and place emphasis on the principle of HaChanassat Orchim-- " the welcoming of strangers." We welcome new faces to join in our prayer services and to participate in our community events.
Sabbath candle-lighting times can be found below. Friday evening services for March are 6 p.m. Our Saturday morning services begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and are always followed by a delicious kiddush. Please join us!
