High Holidays Schedule<\/h1>\n

Our dear family and friends of the Shaarey Tphiloh Community,<\/p>\n

We warmly invite you to join us for the High Holidays! As we say goodbye to the past year and welcome 5778, we would love for you to join us for the many celebrations in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

All are welcome at our shul at 400 Deering Avenue in Portland, Maine. No tickets are required; however, donations are always welcome so that we can continue to offer our community a safe and inviting home of worship for years to come. As with last year, reserved seats are available only for dues-paying members, volunteers and donors due to the limits of our more intimate space. There will be limited free seating available to those who do not reserve a seat ahead of time. If you would like to reserve a seat, call 774-2649 or send us an email at maineshul@null<\/span>gmail.com.<\/p>\n

This year, Rosh Hashanah begins on the evening of September 20th and continues through Friday, September 22nd. Yom Kippur begins with Kol Nidrei on Friday evening, September 29th. The cantors for the High Holidays this year will be Josh Pernick, Levi Mastrangelo, Eitan Kahn and Joel Kahn.<\/p>\n

Letters will be mailed out shortly detailing this very same information. Additionally, a letter has been mailed out regarding this year’s Memorial Book; please keep an eye out for this letter and respond promptly so that the names of your loved ones may be added to and remember during Yizkor services of 5778.<\/p>\n

Temple Beth El and Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh are partnering to offer Kiddush refreshments on Shabbat and holidays. Sharing a Friday night or Shabbat service and Kiddush is a wonderful opportunity to support our congregations, build community, share in the simcha of a birthday, anniversary or graduation, and offer comfort to those observing a yahrzeit.

Sunday Simcha is the only Jewish music program in Maine and northern New England and one of only a handful of Jewish music radio shows in the United States. The JCA<\/strong> is excited to tell you about the launch of our new afterschool program!<\/strong> Designed for children in grades K-3, our curriculum has been inspired by and closely aligned with the care some of you know and love from our preschool.<\/p>\n

Registration for the after school program is officially open and will launch this fall with limited enrollment — we encourage you to sign up soon! Transportation from Portland Public schools and accommodating early release Wednesdays will be provided.<\/p>\n
