THE MIKVAH POOL HAS REOPENED FOR USE.
Help us welcome the Kalever Rebbe Sunday, Aug. 14 at 4 p.m. at Mikvat Shalom
A mikvah is considered an essential element of a Jewish community. Mikvat Shalom’s vision is to make it possible for all Jews to learn about the tradition of ritual immersion and the ways individuals can use the mikvah to enrich their lives. We are committed to maintaining a kosher mikvah that is welcoming, as well as being a vital local resource that strengthens our community.
Mikvat Shalom, an independent nonprofit organization, represents the diversity of Maine’s Jewish community. Our board has members of Chabad, Modern Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and non-denominational congregations. We believe we are the only mikvah in the US that brings together Jews from such a wide spectrum of Jewish practice.
Many faith traditions have a water ritual; come and learn about ours.

Mikvat Shalom, Maine’s new community mikvah, is growing into what we believe will be a sustaining element of Maine’s Jewish community. In the past two years, we have accomplished more than we thought would be possible in such a short time. We are now ready to involve more community members in our mission to bring the mikvah experience to all Maine Jews who desire it.
Currently, we are seeking prospective Board members and volunteers. In particular, we need men or women experienced in fundraising, community outreach and public relations. Also, we are about to undertake more serious repairs of the mikvah and would like assistance with building related issues. The contracting has been arranged, but our Building Committee could use another member or two.
If you are interested in discussing mikvah guide training, opportunities will be available soon. And, in the not too distant future, we will embark upon a community outreach and education program.
